About

The timber first,
the screen after.

Anyone drawing for timber construction should know what a rafter feels like. I learned both.

Stefan Kärger

I am a trained carpenter and went the whole way from the framing yard through structural design to the software timber companies plan and cut with today. That double role is why my drawings work in the workshop: I know what a machine needs and what gets in the way on site.

A drawing is only finished when the carpenter can work from it without asking a single question.

I am based in the Bavarian Forest, in the Passau and Deggendorf area. That is where I come out for surveys and site meetings. The design work itself is not tied to a place: I design for carpentry firms, timber companies and design offices across Germany, in Austria and internationally on request. Drawings and cutting data do not need a journey.

Background

What I bring with me.

Carpentry apprenticeship

The trade from the ground up, including everything that can go wrong on a site.

Structural design

Years in drafting and 3D design, from the single detail to the complete structure.

Software & consulting

Rolling out timber construction software in companies, from consulting through sales to the switch in day-to-day work.

Self-employed

Today I design for clients, carpentry firms and offices who need someone who knows both sides.

You have a project. I will tell you honestly whether I am the right fit.
