Service

Timber design with
ready-to-run cutting data.

Structural design for carports, roof structures, walls and complete timber buildings. You do not just get drawings, you get the data your CNC joinery machine runs on.

What I design

  • Carports, garages, outbuildings
  • Roof structures, collar beam and purlin roofs
  • Storey additions and extensions in timber
  • Wall, floor and roof elements in timber frame
  • CLT components: walls, floors, roofs
  • Balconies, canopies, pergolas
  • Single connections and detail points

What you receive

  • Shop drawings with every machining operation
  • Assembly drawings for the site
  • Timber list and material take-off
  • Cutting data for your machine
  • 3D model, as IFC on request
  • The printed model as well, if you want it

How it works

How a job runs.

Enquiry

You describe the project, I tell you honestly whether I am the right fit and roughly what it costs.

Basis

Survey on site or your documents. We settle the structural engineer's requirements, timber grades and connections.

Design

The structure is built in the 3D model. You see an interim state before it goes into detailing.

Handover

Drawings, lists and cutting data. I answer questions from the workshop until the timber is through the machine.

Frequent questions

What clients ask beforehand.

Will the data suit my machine?

Tell me the make and type of your CNC joinery machine and the format your workshop reads. I set the design up accordingly, so nothing has to be reworked on the shop floor.

Do you do the structural calculations?

No, I design to the requirements of your structural engineer. If you do not have one yet, I am happy to put you in touch. Drawings for building permits are not part of the service either, that is the architect's work.

How long does it take?

A carport is designed through in a few days, a complete roof structure takes longer. After the first conversation you get a firm date, not a guess.

Do you design in CLT?

Yes. Walls, floors and roofs in cross-laminated timber are designed just like timber frame, with panel layout, connections and machining. The output follows the format your panel supplier or your machine requires.

Do you work outside your region?

Yes. Design work happens at the computer, so distance does not matter. I design for companies across Germany, in Austria and internationally on request. Only site surveys and site meetings are limited to the Bavarian Forest and the Passau area.

What if I only have one question?

Call me. A short conversation about an awkward connection costs you nothing and often saves more than a full design job would earn.

You have a project. I will tell you honestly whether I am the right fit.
